EV

vs

Combustion

Difference between EV cars and Combustion

The paradigm shift of vehicles is slowing but consistently moving from Combustion to electrical. Hence, popular car brands like Toyota and Tesla are now making electric cars. Electric Vehicles are vehicles that use electricity or electric motors. Simply put, cars use electricity to work.

To properly understand why this evolution is taking place, the main terms’ definitions and characteristics are explored.

Combustion Cars

Combustion cars use gasoline to ignite their engines for the car to work. As much as combustion vehicles are becoming a thing of the old, they still comprise the more significant part of the total car population. That is, they are still in use; they are not in the dinosaur stage yet. They still serve certain benefits.

The most important benefit or advantage of combustion vehicle is that they are cheap. Finances could pose a severe problem to asset acquisition. Also, combustion cars’ prices are in different price categories to cater to other financial budgets. This means that someone in the lower, middle and upper classes all have cars covering their taste and preferences.

Another advantage of combustion vehicle is that gasoline is available consistently in every country of the world. Whether it’s a third-world country, a developing or developed country, gasoline makes combustion cars a preferable option.

There are reasons to give way for a new paradigm as much as the benefits of using combustion vehicles are. This fact is to say that Combustion cars have their disadvantages.

Combustion cars are not environmentally efficient. It produces negative impacts on the environment through the emission of a large percentage of Carbon dioxide. The carbons released causes the Ozone layer to gradually wear out.

On the other hand, electric cars are now being produced to change the status quo.

Electric Cars

These cars make use of electricity or charged batteries to work. Like the new best thing, everyone wants a piece. You might ask why this? Electric cars perform a lot of mechanical, environmental and financial functions. For one, electric vehicles are like poster kids for green energy. It means that vehicles use electricity which is renewable energy. There is nothing about the electric vehicle affecting the ecosystem or the environment negatively.

Also, EVs are energy efficient. It takes a little energy to wherever you are going, and above all, they are faster.

Furthermore, EVs are also easy to use and maintain. EVs have fewer parts to keep, and it uses next-generation technology to make it easy to use. A considerable number of EVs are self-driving.

However, electric vehicles also have their demerits despite the numerous benefits they possess. One of them is that people from the third world or developing countries do not have constant or reliable electricity. They can’t use EVs because they can’t use cars on blue moon occasions when they have electricity.

Also, EVs are expensive. Not everyone can afford EVs. It seems like it is a luxury product for just the rich. People in the lower or middle class are not able to afford it.
